At what age should my child be seen by an orthodontist?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that your child be evaluated by age 7. Early detection is important to avoid more difficult problems later.
What is the length or duration of orthodontic treatment?
Braces may be on between 6 months to 30 months, or longer depending on the age of the patient, the severity of the problem, the patient’s cooperation, and the degree of movement possible.
The orthodontic services offered are
- Metallic braces
- Ceramic/tooth coloured braces – these blend in with the teeth for a very natural effect and minimal visibility
- Lingual braces – these are braces that are attached behind the teeth and are an excellent option if you do not want your braces to show at all.
- Removable retainers
- Invisible braces/Invisalign – a series of clear aligner trays may be used to in place of traditional braces
The Magic of Invisible Braces
Wearing braces has never been so convenient and comfortable. With recent advances in material technology, orthodontic treatments can be completed in a very short span of time, without anyone knowing about it. Gone are the days of ugly metal braces which had to be worn for years.
WHAT ARE INVISIBLE BRACES?
Invisible braces or clear aligners are wafer-thin, transparent aligners that fit snugly on your teeth and gently move them in place to give you a perfect smile. They offer you all the benefits of conventional orthodontics without the inconvenience of having to wear brackets and wires.
